    Default Are toad patterns hereditary?

I've got a young female American toad with a quite striking pattern. She's light grey with distinct dark grey blotches; it looks very cool. I was thinking about breeding toads next spring, but first I'd need to go out and find a male. If I were to find a male who also has a striking pattern or a cool coloration, would the babies of the two toads also have a striking patter /coloration? Or is that pretty much random? Do toads from the same spawn tend to have similar patterns? Any info that can be offered would be appreciated.
