Default Pictures of RETF's @ night

So whilst im waiting on my red light led torch, I created my own temporary one for 50p.

I went up to my local florists for 1 mtr of Red clear wrap thats used for flower bouquets, this cost 50p a more expensive method would be to buy the stuff for car lights thats red.

I then doubled it up till what I thought was the right red tone and taped it to a small spare led torch.

I was then very easily able to spot my frogs without disturbing them to much.

One has still to emerge but the other 2 must be hungry as they are down close to the glass feeders watching the roaches.

    Hope you liked the photos.

    KMAC.

How did I not think of this? I need to do this, it gets boring when you can't see your herps at night, but the red bulbs produce too much heat for this and the LED night lights usually have awkward fixtures.i might just get a red light torch tho.

Thats what im thinking bud red emitting torches for spot checking like this is the way forward and it doesnt seem to bother them 1 bit.

Ive stopped using my red led strip lights I used at night and the frogs are active far earlier.

But if you do like red led lights on a timer buy a reel of 3528 red leds you can cut to size yourself and add a plug very easily, they are also water proof.

But im learning its best just to use the torch method for spot checking.

Just shows they can definitely see the red light. Will look them up, but with being torch I would be ble to easily use on multiple vivs. At least with red eyes they're pretty comfortable with sitting right out in the open so you can look at them during the day, though you miss out on the big red eyes and colourful sides.

This is a great idea, however for my 75 Gallon the LED light that acts as a full moon is great. I can see into the tank and because they have both actually come out at moonlight it doesn't disturb them and it's perfect to even see the insects interact. You should consider videos of the behavior and interaction in your tank with the frogs, it would be cool. Or maybe I'm crazy lol
