My dog injured a toad. The vet said the leg was broken, and that I needed to euthanize or have the leg amputated. I did some research and discovered this is a common injury for frogs/toads, and that given time, they can heal just fine. I was keeping her in a critter keeper with paper towels down because she had an open wound. She was eating 2 crickets a day and soaking daily, using her water as a toilet. When the wound healed, I moved her to a proper habitat. She ate and soaked well for about 2 days. Now she's been underground for over 72 hours. I know she's alive, but I'm worried about her not eating or soaking. I do mist the habitat daily. Surely she's not hibernating? I was going to release her when her leg healed (She was already starting to use it to walk). How concerned should I be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, because I've never kept an amphibian for more than a couple of days (I used to keep them as temporary pets when I was little).
