How do people manage to safely attach heat pads to plastic tubs without having them burn? I'd like to move my pacman frogs to a much more simple cage such as a plastic tub, but I'm too worried the tub might catch on fire..
The crucial thing you need is a reptile thermostat which will keep the heat pad from exceeding your desired temperature. Lots of people heat tub racks with heat tape or heart cable which works as long as they use thermostats.

Can it still catch on fire with a thermostat?
If it's a cheap or poorly made mat or gets thermal blocked, it can malfunction and potentionally cause a fire. The thermostat will prevent this with high quality uk made cloth heat mats but not always with printed element mats which can get hot spots. Leave a gap underneath the rub so there is airflow around the mat.
There is a heat pad that you can use with plastic tubs but I don't know the name of it.
If you do find the name of it, please tell me. I would really like to know.
Heating pads and mats specifically designed for herps are pretty safe, it's uncontrolled heat tape that'll burn your house down. I've used cobra heat mats® without a thermostat on plastic containers and bins for decades and never had a problem.
