How many insects should an adult male white's treefrog eat per week .my 2 5 year olds are only eating 2 a week of dubias or superworms. By tong but im wondering if they are catching theor own over night in the viv
Hi
For most animals, I feed two to three times per week with up to 8 appropriate sized foods at each feed. You can just put as many in and then take the excess out, the frog will decide on how much it wants but 2 insects a week is definitely not enough and could be that you're temps are too cool, which effects their appetite.
I guess they must be eating on their own over night as they are not thin and the temps are in the 80s...they are not fans of the tongs I guess
How long have they been eating like this? I hope they have. It's definitely not enough IMO. Be careful with superworms, they can be fatty but don't provide that much in nutritional value. This could be why they're not skinny but doesn't mean they're getting enough nutrients, especially by supplements; as in if they don't eat enough food they won't get enough. A basking spot of 85oF provided by a heat lamp is generally recommended, whilst it's important that temperatures drop at night down to the lower 70s to mid 60oF. This serves as a 'cool down' period and recreates what happens in the wild.
Thank you..
