Thread: Tadpoles dead..

    Question Tadpoles dead..

    Hi,
I have never had tadpoles before..
and got these ones by accident when trying to get some pond water for cyclops etc.

Anywho, 3 of the biggest tadpoles have died ..and the other are looking lethargic.
    I've only had them 3 days !!
I've been feeding them oatmeal...having just got some lettuce today.

Is the white of the digestive tract an indication of anything?

    Sorry for your experience
there are lots of things that could have gone wrong here, quality of water, food being a major ones. It's hard to say what exactly gone wrong, but you feeding them outmeal was most likely the case.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

My kids are raising some tadpoles so far so I've done a lot of reading about them. The best diet would be one that consists of blanched/frozen lettuces like baby spinach, blood worms, and tadpole pellets. Make sure you're removing any uneaten food and do not feed them any floating foods or they may ingest air which could lead to death. Keep an eye on your water quality. Just like with fish, you need to watch your ammonia levels and such. I hope this helps! Good luck!
