Thread: Picky Cranwelli

    Default Picky Cranwelli

Usually I'm able to figure this out but this frog has me beat. He won't eat anything but crickets. I'm trying to incorporate variety in his diet, now that his vet check went well. He has put on some size which is nice and is starting to be a little more active.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get their frogs to eat night crawlers and grubs pie? Latest picture, his leg seems to be doing much better though I doubt he will ever regain full use.

If he's happy eating crickets, get him to eat a couple, afterwards he will swallow and likely do this thing where he opens his mouth slightly 4 or 5 times over then next couple minutes. If you are really quick about it you can pop the end of a night crawler in his mouth. Make sure they are non-dyed night crawlers, any other type of worm could turn him off from worms as a food source.

FROG only ate crickets for at least 2 years and he appears to be fine. I "dusted" them with ReptoCal and REPTIVITE at appropriate times. Now he is eating night crawlers and "dusted" crickets. I have had him since December of 2013 and I am certainly no expert on Horned Frogs. FROG is my first Horned Frog.

I'm thinking I may try putting him a smaller container and worm with him for a little bit. He won't eat if I'm in the same room. He's a shy little bugger. I'm not too worried he is doing really well and is probably the most active horned frog I've owned. Just be nice to add some other variety.
