It is herping season in Scotland. My favourite time of the year must be spring, when I get to see all these beautiful and wonderful creatures go to their breeding sites. I'd love to see some pics of amphibians or reptiles you have seen. Here's some of what I've had the privilege to observe so far but I have seen at least 18 toads, 1 common frog but only the 3 newts
I think this is a palmate newt, but it's hard to tell and could be a smooth newt. Newts aren't my speciality...yet

A younger one, it was tiny
A common toad (bufo bufo) probably a male waiting for a female. In dangerous waters. This is one of my favourite amphibians, as I was obsessed with it as a kid
Another common toad. They seem to be most active when temperature at night are atleast 5oC (41oF)
