I have several rocks I'm considering putting into the terrarium but I'm a little concerned they might have soaked up some chemicals somehow. They were never in direct contact with any chemical, but they were in (fertilized) dirt for a while and they were in a shed where a few chemicals were stored.
Is there any way to make sure they're not holding onto any residues or should I give up? If I give up, what would you consider a good source for rocks?
If it is chemicals, try washing them with a 10:1 water-bleach solution, and then rinse thoroughly with warm tap water. If you are worried about living things (insects, fungus, bacteria) you could put it in boiling water or bake it in an oven or grill at ~250° fairinheight.

On second thought, the boiling water would probably work just as well for chemicals

Thanks, I'll try bleach and boiling water.
