    Default ??? Brom Care ???

    I have an issue.

    Broms

They stay alive, grow well, develop great color, then.... by the time i realize some of the lower leaves are dying off/need plucked, the whole central shaft is rotten. In one case my roots went to mook...

65k full spec bulbs. Usually a little shaded because my pothos went naners and tried to take over. Literally roots in the air that run 16" to the dirt lol. My diy franken-fogger rocks.
All tanks have moss that grows well.
    About 4in nice biosoil.
    Hydroball drainage.

What am i doing wrong? Im lost here. I can plant/grow anything. Heck even started a few "special" seeds lol

The broms say NO and i bet its something so stupid...

Rotting sounds like it's a bit too wet. I killed off a few before I realized they needed more ventilation and dry time than I was giving them.

How are you mounting them? Most people wrap the bases in sphagnum, which ends up retaining too much moisture and eventually rots them. In the only tank I keep with broms in it, and any other times I have grown them (rare lol), I do not use any sphagnum on the roots. I leave them bare.

Aaaaah. I believe moisture to be my issue then. It is always fairly damp in there. So this is going to be a fun dance between moss and moisture....

Ill post a few of the enclosure/ lights in a moment

Ah. A terrestrial brom. They need excellent drainage. Like stupid excellent. I would open up a spot in the soil, add some orchid mix, or coco husk (not fiber) into the hole, add the plant, cover the roots with more mix/husk. Essentially, plant the brom in a separate media. No need for a pot, just add the media in a hole. That should resolve your moisture issue for that particular plant.
