Thread: Red leg?

    Default Red leg?

I am unsure if my frog is sick or of this coloring is normal. I read that grey tree frogs do have yellow on their legs but I never really noticed it before (He has only been a frog for a couple months though). He survived severe injuries that happened about 5 days ago do to my cat managing to remove his tank lid. His legs were very red caused by bleeding under the skin after the attack. So I am unsure if it is apart of the healing process. He is still climbing, eating, and following a proper schedule. But I am very concerned about him. He is also housed with another frog so I need to know asap if I need to quarantine him.

Is this the most current picture of him?? It will look much more bloodshot on the legs and on the lower belly, usually the frog is lethargic or hiding. The legs will appear pink after your little guy has peen jumping around the terrarium. As long as he's is acting normal and eating still, he should be Ok.

Do you think it is apart of normal coloring and the red is from his injury? I just noticed this afternoon that my female has yellow to. I read that done do have yellow and they are only a couple months old so maybe that's why it is just showing up? I rescued them as tadpoles from a puddle that was drying up so I am a first time frog owner doing a lot of research.

this is him about 8 hours after his injuries took place. (I had a bigger water dish that I removed. I put a smaller one in so he could get in and out easier. That is why he is sitting on bare glass in this picture.)

Keep a close eye on him. Be sure that he is still eating and active. The yellow coloration on the legs is normal to the species.

Thank you so much. I've been super stressed out about it. He didn't move much or eat for the first two days after the incident until his swelling went down but he still managed to climb up his favorite branch. The little guy is a fighter. He does still have some bruising in his back and belly. But I have high hopes about a full recovery as long as that leg heals up nicely. He doesn't seem to have a problem using it.
