Thread: Cat attack survivor

    Default Cat attack survivor

My cat managed to remove the lid from my tank and attacked one of my frogs. He had severe injuries but is a fighter so he has survived. The incident happened for days ago. After a quick and extremely impressive recovery my little guy is now eating and climbing with no problem. But I noticed today that he has yellowing on his back legs. I am not sure if it is due to his healing process or if he is showing early symptoms of red leg (because both back legs were red with blood under the skin after the incident). He is in his tank with his sister so I need to know asap if I need to quarantine him. I'm really hoping it's due to healing since he has already been through a lot. It was truly a miraculous recovery.

Could be bruising? Did you treat any cuts with (NON-PAIN RELIEVING) Neosporin or something like that? You might want to quarantine him if that would make him easier to watch, but I doubt he has anything contagious. Especially since the "red legs" were caused by injury, not a fungus.

He had no surface wounds. I guess he didn't taste good. Everything was internal.

He was very very swollen. But he's back to normal size but with a little bit of loose skin.

Also, the sides of grey tree frog legs (I can't remember which side) are often yellow/orange in color. Hope that helps.

I didn't take a picture right after it first happened because he didn't look like he was going to make it. I took that picture about 8 hours later. I now call him the miracle frog.

He apparently is a very, very lucky fellow.

Update: His leg has fully healed. Besides a few spots on his skin from blood underneath it, he has made a full recovery.
