I have heard the Exoterra digital 2/1 is pretty good. I have tried the National Geographic one and thought it was garbage, it was way off all the time. I also tried that little yellow zoomed one and wasn't fond of that one either. To be honest the one I have had the most luck with that is digital is the All Living Things 2/1, or a thermostat with some kind of alarm to tell you if your temps go to high if something malfunctions like the Zoo med Hygrotherm. I use the all living things 2/1 in all my tanks and my big pacman frog is hooked up to the hygrotherm with the all living things one in there just in case, the 2 probes are placed side by side. And for the 2 that aren't hooked up to something and just have the 2/1 in them I have a glass fish thermometer that I will throw in there lets say once a week beside the probe to make sure it isn't off. I believe the glass one to be most accurate but leaving it in there with a pacman frog might not be the best idea, I would be afraid for him to break it somehow trampling over it. And I don't know if you have ever noticed but if you scroll down the page to bottom theres a part there that has old threads asking the same question that you can also read that I find to be very usefull.

I've not had any problems with the Exo Terra thermometers, so I guess they're pretty good. What I love about them is you can press a button and it'll tell you how high or low temps have been

I use the 1.99 glass aquarium thermometers --- just stick them in different areas in the substrate.

    Easy , cheap, and accurate

My favorite would be our Vivarium Electronics TH100. It was like $12 at an expo so i imagine online they'd be dirt cheap. 1x3 inch nice display. Long probe lead. Its our longest lasting temp/humidity gauge. Exo Terra 2/1 are good too, my issue with them is over time is, where the wire runs into the probe, something, usually animals bump, move, or climb on it. The connection comes loose, and part of it stops reading... so hide it well lol. Theres a variety of options. Theres also ones from department or hardware stores
No wires, battery power. Issue there is you have to hide a 1or2x4 sensor or work it into your tank so it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb. Have one that does temp/humidity inside and outside(the sensor) to keep an eye on my room temp as well. A steady room enviroment helps.

So theres a wide variety of options out there. Kinda comes down to preferance.
