    Default ACF folder skin?

I need help! Henri is a five year old ACF, who I think is female. Over the past several months she developed a fold of skin on her back. Her behavior and appetite ( Zoo Med Aquatic Frog micro peiiets and night crawlers) have not changed, still good. She is alone in a 10 gal. tank, Water levels test normal. My questions are; Is she really a female? Should I be doing something about this skin fold? Is five years very old for an ACF? See my photos on Facebook:

The skin folds are interesting. Has she (definitely a girl) lost weight recently?

It kind of reminds me of Telmatobius culeus, another genus of aquatic frogs. This species is large and doesn't leave the water. It uses it's skin for cutaneous respiration, whereas clawed frogs don't.

She may have had a mild case of bloat that she recovered from on her own. Just enough to stretch her skin?

If she isn't showing any other symptoms, I would watch her closely. If she goes off food, loses weight, or starts swimming strangely, I would take her to a good herp vet.

In the mean time, try to get the ammonia down to zero. Nitrites and nitrates look good. Some pothos ivy rooted in the aquarium can help with the ammonia and the small amount of nitrates, but your nitrates are well within the acceptable levels.

They are critically endangered. They are only found in one place in the world, and pollution and over collecting for food has driven them to the brink of extinction. I don't even know if zoos or researchers could get the permits to catch any.

I thaught maybe they r already bred in captivity.

The cured bloat could be a plausible reason btw

I just can't think of anything it could be without showing physical or behavioral changes. That was a guess on my part.

There are many diseases that can cause swelling, but most are accompanied by other issues. Renal failure is one, but the frog would slowly waste away. I have a few girls that get so big while full of eggs that a slight stretching can be seen a day or so after laying, but this normally disappears after a very short time.
