    Exclamation Growth near ADF's mouth??

So I discovered this growth near the mouth of one of my ADF's about a week ago. I thought it was fungus so I've been treating with Pimafix but have seen no improvement. Can anyone tell me what it might be or how to treat it?

Can anyone tell me how to attach an image to this forum? It keeps telling me it's an invalid file type even though it's jpg.

Do you feed it foods high in calcium? I am not sure if aquatic frogs can get MBD, but from the deformities on it including its front left hand and on the nose area

Not that I'm aware of. I feed them zooMed aquatic frog and tadpole food.

It doesn't seem to be fungal. Fungal infections would be white and fuzzy or sometimes clear. It almost looks like an abscess maybe caused by an injury and infection. You might try antibiotics.

Also, I have found that ADF do much better on live or frozen food. In my experience, dried and prepared foods often lead to bloat. When I bred ADFs I fed them frozen blood worms, frozen mysis shrimp, and live food. In a pinch, I have fed them mosquito larva cleaned with a weak peroxide bath (mosquito larva can host parasites and other pathogens, so caution is advised if feeding mosquito larva.)

I agree with celticstrab, it doesn't look like a fungal infection, is your frog on his own, if not, what are his tank mates? He could have been injured..Does he still eats? I would keep is water clean and wait to see if any improvement. I cannot suggest a good antibiotic, I know that Maroxy is safe for frogs but not available in Canada. You may also want to vary his diet, mine gets pellets(frog pellets or shrimp pellets) once in a while but mainly frozen food, brine shrimps, mysis shrimps and less often frozen blood worms

He's in a tank with 2 other ADF's, there was a fourth but he died from a clear fungal infection (which is why I assumed he had it too and have been treating the whole tank). I'll stop treating and just try to keep the tank water clean. As far as I can tell his appetite has been alright. I'll try to mix up the diet a bit. I have some frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. Thanks for the help!

I am sorry you lost one of your frog. I don't know if you tank is cycled or not, just make sure there is no ammonia, no nitrites, water should be around 77F, keep us posted!

Sorry to hear you already lost one frog.

One more suggestion that might help with wounds is some aquarium salt added to the water. I add 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon of water, making sure to use actual water volume and not the tank's gross volume (in other words counting for water displacement from gravel and decorations.) I prefer to use true marine salt such as Instant Ocean instead of "aquarium" salt in the freshwater section. The marine salt is actually a mixture of several different salts and trace elements. Whereas the freshwater aquarium salt is just sodium chloride.

One more question comes to mind. Do you use a power filter? If you do, are the intakes covered with a sponge?
