I looked into the false bottom and because I was working weekends and at school and studying most of the rest of the time I tried to pay someone to build it. I wasn't very successful at that and my mother found a place that would do something that will suffice at least. They work with acrylic and will build a tray that is 3" H, 16"D, 18"W for my fire bellies to hang out in.
I asked if the adhesive would be safe for my frogs, he said good question. And he described it in good detail. But I haven't the best memory. Sounded like chemicals and vacuuming were involved and I decided I'd try it and hot soapy wash it, followed by a very through hot wash and long air dry in the open air for a few days.
This is the site. It describes the techniques a bit.
