Thread: Odd behaviour?

  1. #1

    Default Odd behaviour?

I have two pairs of White's, one pair is in a large viv, and the other two are new additions that are still in quarantine.
However in the past few days I have noticed that both pairs, even in their separate vivs, have this thing where they climb to the top of their viv, and try and get onto the roof, which of course they can't grip onto and then fall off.
I have never seen this before.
Of course I know they like to climb, but they keep falling and I am worried they will hurt themselves.

I don't know, could they want more space? It feels like you know what your doing though!

They are most definitely in a large enough viv, but it is so weird because I have never seen this behaviour before now.

Maybe it's stress and once they settle in they will calm down? I also noticed when my wtf get hungry they try and escape to find food.

Sometimes that can indicate improper temps and/or humidity. I'd double check it all to make sure it's on.

Everything has been fine in the vivs, however it has been unnaturally hot in the UK in the past few days since they've started to do this

I'm with Amy. Sounds like they are trying to get out and find something more in their comfort zone.

It just worries me and makes me feel like I am distressing them in some way. The one that is the main culprit has always been a lively little thing, but this is just so different. The only thing that has changed at all about their set up in months, is how hot it has got outside in general in the UK recently and me adjusting the temp in the viv to match that.

My girls that I've had for a year used to do that every night and still do occasionally. I moved them into a huge viv and they hardly do it anymore. How big is your viv?

60 w 60h 40d but they have been in that for at least eight months already so they are used to the space.

You'll want to go at least 36 inches high. Although they've been in their cage for some time now, they are still adjusting. My male has taken forever to adjust. Your females are finally feeling comfortable and are asking for more space.
