Good afternoon all!
I was working on the background for a 10 gallon converted experiment tank when the foam completely lifted off of the glass. It came off of the sides and back in one big piece. I cleaned the glass prior to adding foam and the temps were in the mid 70's. I didn't silicone the glass prior to adding the foam just like the other three tanks I've built, and they're all holding up fine.
Has this happened to anybody else? Any suggestions for me?
FYI.... I thought I may be able to silicone it back onto the tank, but the background has shrunk too much to attempt it.
Thanks for any help and/or suggestions

Do a layer of silicone first. I've only had 1 great stuff tank, and it didn't happen. I've heard of it happening many times though.

I rarely use silicone and never have shrinkage issues. I think it's all in the way it is applied. I never allow a lot of propellant at. I use a light touch on the trigger. It may take me more foam to cover a tank, but at $3/can, I 'm not upset if I use 4 cans versus 3

I personally always put a layer of silicone on before I foam. Besides for the foam, when I make a build for an office, an evenly applied layer of black silicone gives a nice glossy look from the outside and hides the foam and all other background items. Saves me from having to put contact paper on which could peel off down the road. Don't put the foam on to thick though. If need be, apply with multiple applications.
I also do a thin layer of silicone behind the foam I use. The yellow foam sticks to glass much better than the black foam too, but a layer of silicone will help ensure it stays attached long term.

I think I may have gotten a bad can. I reapplied the foam yesterday, and its holding just fine.
Great news!
