Hello everyone, thought I would share the little incident Groot my pacman frog and I had last night. So first before I tell you i just wanted to state that Groot doesn't like anybody messing around with his enclosure, and that he has been trying to get me from day one. L.O.L So last night he finally got me and I tell you it didn't feel all that great, they have a nasty bite. When I went down to feed him he was sitting in the corner with just his head above the substrate underneath a plant which was making it hard for me to get the worm in front of him so I figured I would just lift the leaf up so I could get access to him. Well groot doesn't like when I play with the plants so as soon as I touched it he leaped and caught my finger. Now this leaf is about for inches of the ground and he was about a good 5 inches back from my finger buried except for his head and he exploded out of that hole in a millisecond and had my finger. I dropped the tongs and worm on the floor and I swear he thought he was a croc cause he tried the death roll with my finger and that's what got him to let go the little bugger. Yes there was blood and I have a nice little cut on the bottom of my finger, and we aren't talking today because im upset he bit me and hes upset he couldn't bite my finger off so I wont stick it in there any more. Oh and Groot is about 4 and 1/2 inches and about 6 months old. So for you guys and gals that are new to pacman frogs a little advice, your fingers do look like worms and pinkies and they may be chubby and look slow but they are faster and more agile then you think. Hope you got a laugh
Ouchy!!!

Ya it didn't feel great, but I can honestly say I was fascinated with how sticky the saliva is. Its almost like a glue, very neat.
Ha, Paddy (grey tree frog) bit me once while I was doing stuff in her tank. I'm not really sure why unless she thought maybe I had food? It didn't hurt, not even slightly, just surprised me. But yes, it was ridiculously sticky!

Well, this may have shaken me out of getting a four-spot pacman frog I had my eyes on...No it didn't
Xavier I believe Groot is just a grumpy bottomless pit, he just has that evil look in his eyes. And hes albino so the red eyes just make him look more evil. I swear he watches my every move just waiting and lurking under his plants praying I put my finger to close, like last night. L.O.L Hes still my buddy though even if he bit me. One night while I was picking up his water dish to change it he jumped at my hand and made me drop the whole dish dirty water and all in his enclosure, and I think I was more upset that night then last because I had to change out his substrate.
LMAO i feel your pain. Big weld and i had words not long ago. I dont think hes evil, but he deffinatly has panic attacks so i had to put him up high enough to not really see people. He starts panting hard and bunkers down. I learned the hard way not to make the bedding deep enough for them to fully submerge... Cause then theres a pinky mouse poking around to find.... well he found me shall we say.... whoops.
Ya I know that hunkered down look Groot has done it a couple times before, or he will bury himself if he gets to nervous/scared. But most the time when lights are out and I start comeing towards the enclosure he will either puff up and start giving me heck after the lid is off, he can be very vocal at times. Or he will just stand nice and tall with his head high and its when he does this I know if im not quick he's comeing to get me. L.O.L He wakes up on the wrong side of the substrate a lot the grumpy bugger. And last night he didn't do either because he was buried pretty much and just chillin so I thought I would be good, I was very wrong with my judgement.
Is it by chance like a low growl when they start becoming vocal?
no I wouldn't call it a growl its sounds more like hes shrieking or screaming at you. Its the same sound you see them making in the youtube videos when you have a bored owner and decides it would be funny to poke at his frog. I hate those videos. And just to clarify he is 4 inches at 6 months not 4 1/2. Not to bad of a guess though if your asking me. And for some reason im starting to think from the size and the fact he is still growing that he may be a she. Even though he bit me the night before I was curious how big he actually was so I got out the tape and measured him, I went from the back so he didn't see my hand.
