Hello I am building a vivarium for Amazon milk frogs and have a few questions. I got Eco earth but it keeps getting in the water feature. I am redoing the tank and was wondering if i should use that fern substrate stuff.i am doing that spray foam backround and wanted to use a substrate on that that will cover good, any ideas?
Hey Frogger27,
I saw you have a more recent thread than this one but to kind of answer your question here: Without seeing what you're doing, if the substrate butts right up against your water feature it's probably going to be an ongoing battle. If you partition the actual water feature that is one of the easiest ways. I've used glass siliconed into place and then hidden with rocks and gravel.
Another thing you can do that will help is to get a little more complex with your layers of substrate. Typically in vivs, which you may already know, you do a layer of false bottom or an aquarium type false bottom, the substrate, and then leaf litter.
