Hey guys I thought I would post some pictures of my new tank that I have been working on. It is a 20g long, with a monsoon rs400 mister and led light setup. It previously had a decent sized 3 1/2 inch deep water section that has been scrapped and made into a mossy area. I was too worried about the drowning issue. This was the tank previously I was never really comfortable with it before, but after some tuning and growth I'm starting to feel better. This is the tank after the tweaks
I'm still 2 months out before getting the darts I'm going on vacation and won't be getting them until I get back. It's kind of a good thing because it will give the plants more time to grow in. I realize the water feature is controversial, but it has been running for about two months with no issues without water going where it shouldnt. If it becomes an issue in the future, I'll just unplug it. But so far no issues and since it's a display tank I'm not really worried. Also, the tank has a thriving population of springtails and fungus gnats and I have a springtails culture already going. Any more tips or suggestions are more than welcome this is my first dart tank and I am always learning. thank you so much for feedback/advice in advance!
*btw I was planning on going with leucs for this tank unless someone recommends otherwise.
Looks very cool! Nice job!!

Thank you bill! I'd be lying if I said I didn't get most of my inspiration from your tanks. Your solitude tank was the one that got my wife on board for vivariums lol now I just have to get her on board for a 100 gallon lol
I did have a question about how to cool the tank down a bit. I live in Phoenix Arizona where it is about to get extremely hot. My tank usually sits at around 77 degrees which I know is a bit high for darts. If anyone has any info on how to cool it down that would be awesome. I looked on google for answers but none of them seemed very feesable with my setup.

Pretty much the only things you can really do are air conditioning or fans, lots of fans.

Alright I'll definitely look into some fans for sure. I was looking into a portable a/c unit to rig into the viv because the outside Temps this summer are going to be well over 110 degrees and my house warms up quite a bit, even with the air on. I have yet to find a affordable one but I'll start with the fans and see what Temps I get from those. Thanks!
I mean fans in the room. Fans in the Viv won't really help much with temps. And unless you cycle them properly, will dry the Viv out.
There was a DIY a/c unit video out there on YouTube that uses parts from Home Depot and ice.
As long as you don't go over 80 for a sustained amount of time, the frogs should be ok.

Perfect thanks for the info I'll try and find it on YouTube right now
Do I absolutely need a coco hut for this tank? I feel like there are multiple hiding spots and places for them to retreat already, and given that it will be a other two months before I get darts the plants should have even more cover by then. I will put coco huts in if I have to but in my own personal opinion I think they stick out like a sore thumb. But of course I will put the frogs before aesthetics. Any thoughts?
I never use them. A lot of people do to give the frogs a safe place to lay clutches of eggs. A coco hut with a Petri dish underneath makes a very convenient place to find eggs/tads. But they are not necessary for the frogs to survive.
