Default New owner looking for more information!

Hey guys I recently got a new pacman frog and I just have a few questions.

    1. she is currently eating crickets (dusted with calcium daily and vitamins one a week) is this an ok staple?

    2. if switching to worms where is the best place to buy them and what do I need to make sure of?

    3. I currently have a heat pad on the bottom and a 50w lamp on the top during the day, is this ok? how can I maintain better humidity?

    4. Is feeding in the cage ok? I had moss but read it was bad so I took it out.

    5. Is chlorine free glacier water ok?

    6. Name suggestions? I believe it's a she.

Thanks to all that answer. I tried finding a lot of this on my own but the information varies so much. this is the only place I find reliable.

    Thanks!

Lower your distinct to two calciums and one vitamin, and spread them out.

Worms are available at walmart, some pet stores, or bait shops. Make sure they are non-dyed night crawlers. Red wigglers may have an off taste to your frog that could put him off a great food source.

Move the heat pad to the side for frogs safety and psychology, and switch to CHE bulb to not dry out as fast. To keep up humidity mist frequently or get a reptifogger.

If you are going to feed in the enclosure, remove moss and anything else that could pose impaction risk.

Use spring water or tap that has been treated with reptisafe or seachem or any other dechloronater. Avoid distilled except for in a reptifogger.

Name the frog based on personality, it will show you before too long.

Also read the sticky thread at the top of the forum for a good care guide

You could use a bulb that doesn't produce heat, or if the room he is in is bright enough that is ok to. These guys don't just sit out in the open during the day they hide in the shade or burrow to get of the direct light, so it doesn't have to be super bright inside the tank. I have an albino and all I use is the light in the ceiling, turn it on at 9am and off at 9pm and this enough for him to realize its daytime. And its just 2 60 watt bulbs in the ceiling fixture.

Okay so, I'm heading to the store now, I'm getting some crickets, Nightcrawlers if possible, Zoo Med Humidifier, Distilled water, Zoo med U.T.H. , CHE Bulb, and a Hygrotherm Controller.

Sounds good to me, and the hygrotherm is life saver. I have had one now for about a week and I love the thing.
