Default Substrate for American Green tree frogs?

I have been searching for this in the forums but have not seen any thing concerning green tree frogs substrate. I see where some say not to use moss for other types of frogs. Is this the same case for the green tree frog?

I have my exo terra back ground completed and just getting ready to put down the eco earth substrate. Is this going to be ok for this type of frog? Sorry I know a lot of questions but I want to get it right before adding any frogs to the tank.

About the moss is it only a certain kind of moss or what?

I know they will spend most of their time in the plants but I don't want to chance they eat any thing I put in there and get hurt.

Are you planning on putting live plants in there? If so, you will want to look into getting or making your own abg mix. You can put tropical sheet moss down or another type of live moss. I use a lot of leaf littler in my tree frog tanks too. The issue with moss is that they can eat it when diving for crickets and get impacted. That can also be solved by bowl feeding - http://www.frogforum.net/general-dis...eder-bowl.html

Yes, it is going to have live plants. I want to make it as natural as possible for my frogs.
I am planning on using leaf litter.
The feeding bowl is a great idea! Think I should have a place up in the upper tank area for the bowl? Seeing that they are tree frogs.

I'll search the forum for the abg mix your talking about.
Thanks for the info on the moss.

You can place the bowl high or low, it won't matter to them.

ABG is easy. Peat moss, orchid bark, fir bark (or tree fern fiber), cocofiber, and charcoal (optional). Making your own is great if you have or plan to have multiple tanks. If you only have a single tank, ordering from someplace like ne herp is the way to go.
