Just a heads up, my vet would not test my frogs poop with out seeing her first. Maybe call and check first?

Interesting! I guess it just depends on each vet's preference. I know my vet had no problem doing a fecal test on a frog she'd never seen, but I have brought other animals in for exams so maybe that was why. Calling is definitely great advice though to know for sure.Originally Posted by Snappi13

Our new vet let us test sans frogs, definitely call ahead. I'd do two QT tanks as soon as you can.

exactly! just like people vets, they all have their preferences. some people vets will call in a prescription, others want to see you first. animal vets are no different
my exotic vet does fecals for me without seeing the animals, but i think she just digs me lol

It simple. When you do fecal you charge only for fecal, but it's always a good idea to do check up to cover everything up even if not needed. And charge for check up and fecalit's called business. Most vets won't do just fecal just for that reason.... Ups.... Shhhhhhh. I didn't say that lol nope, wasn't me!
its actually the same when you go to the dentist knowing you have a cavity, so the guy will charge you for checking if you have it and for fixing it

Lol true, I'll ask when I call if they do fecals without the frog(s) present. For now I'm still waiting for a sample from the other frog. This is the first time I've done this and while it seems relatively simple it still makes me a little nervous.

my advice is to call the vet and get the samples there as soon as you can whether you have to bring the frogs or not. No mater what it is the poor frogs need a Vet to figure it out and prescribe treatment. Hope it turns out to be something that is easy to get rid of.

Vet needs frogs to be present since its the first time. Tomorrow was the only appointment I could get. Still waiting on a sample from Angus.

Update: sample received from Angus. This one does not look good. Smells real bad and has a pus colored film surrounding part of it. However, it does not look like the one that I found the other day. I suspect both frogs may have something

The vet appointment went more than well. The vet was very nice and said my frogs looked perfect. Fecals won't be in until tomorrow. They took pics of the frogs and put them on their facebook page lol. Both frogs weigh almost the same. She really liked me I guess because she asked if I would like to do an internship-like thing during the summer.
Hopefully things will work out with the frogs

The results are in. Strongyles were found in the frogs' feces. The vet prescribed an oral medication to be picked up tomorrow. I will have to get rid of/boil everything in the tank. Oh well, was planning to get a new tank on the 19th and wouldve have gotten rid of a lot of that stuff anyway soo
