Me and hornets are cool, wasps kinda. If they start to disturb my ability to live peacefully I put up this sweet water poison trap they go in and they sure don't check out. Yellow jackets too. Catches the occasional June bug.

Me and my brother had to find an efficient and safe way to kill them growing up. Mom has an allergy to stinging bugs and asphyxiates pretty badly.

But I figure it beats those electrical shocking bug light things.

Wasps can fly and even if you run......they come after you! One time I woke up with one in my room and I left the house and stayed outside the whole day. I was hoping that it might starve before the day was over. Its funny what people will do to avoid their fears lol.

I'm with Amy, I'm majorly freaked out by spiders... I went to a herp/exotics expo this last weekend, and trying to get a look at some frogs on one table I didn't even realize I was leaning over boxes of tarantulas and scorpions! @_@ When I did realize that I very carefully managed to rein in my usual reaction and backed away without drawing any attention... I think I shook myself off like a wet dog after I got out of there, brrrr YEESH!

I hate yellow jackets/wasps, centipedes, silverfish and especially stink bugs! Nasty.....
    Mom to these fine frogs!

Lol, ohh! You had to mention expo. Repticon is going down in Costa Mesa on April 10-12 I'm totally going. I can't wait to see all the critters handle thing and take pictures. And post up everything. Like froggies, and new Morph's.

Sorry, I'm a day late getting to this!

Week 2, tell us about your amphibians. How you came to keep them, mistakes/learning curves, species kept, breedings, how you found Frog Forum etc....we heard enough about you on week 1, let us hear about them frogs!

    Default MOTM April 2015 - Eli (Frogman1031)

This is gonna be a long one, so stay with me .

I have seven frogs. One male and one female White's tree frog. One male and one female American Toad. And either three females or two females and one male Dendrobates Leucomelas.

It all starts in September of 2011, I collected a tadpole outside at my pond (didn't know any better). In July of 2012 the tadpole became a beautiful female Northern Green Frog. She was very cute but I was not experienced and knew little of their care. She was with me until June of 2013 when she drowned in her water bowl. MBD had taken its toll. That's when I learned about White's Tree Frogs. I researched and researched and researched still for weeks. On August 15, 2013 (I'm very good with dates), I brought home Angus, a male who is missing toes on his back legs, and Agnes, a female who is very skittish. I had read some threads on the forum before and a few days after getting them I joined frog forum and have been an active member (most of the time anyways) ever since. Fast foward to mid May of 2014, I netted a small sunfish in the lake. The stupid little thing had a toad in its mouth. Too big to swallow yet wasnt letting go, could have ended badly for both animals. I took the toad home and put it in a small critter keeper for a few days while I got its ten gallon tank ready. It turned out to be a female American Toad whose name is Selene. About two months later I found a small toad in my basement. I scooped it up and quarantined it for about three weeks before placing him (Helios) in with Selene. They now live in a nice big 35 gallon long tank . Fast forward again to September 20, 2014, the White Plains Reptile Expo. There I picked up three Leucomelas dart frogs. They seem to be all female but one I'm not entirely sure about.

    Mistakes/learning curves:
    1. I did not quarantine any frogs until I found Helios in my basement
    2. Used coco fiber as substrate in tree frogs tank
    3. Learned about how to maintain proper temps and humidity so make sure my frogs were healthy.

But I was going to say it's never too late to post pictures of your frogs. Nice new tank!

I was wondering about that too :/. The treatment I think is going quite well. I have been finding dead worms in their feces, the doctor said that's normal and as the treatment progresses the worms will all die and be passed out. Disinfected everything and now I have an empty 18x18x18 that's ready for some new additions lol
