    Default yikes!

So one of my tanks ended up getting water logged because my son changed the settings on my mister. Two different wood pieces have grown mold on them... how can I safely get rid of the mold on the wood pieces?

You can try boiling the wood pieces. I would also consider changing the substrate if possible. Do you have a drainage layer? It can definitely help prevent things like this from happening again. (Remember to dry the wood pieces sufficiently before placing in tank again). Good luck !

Scrub the wood with 10:1 bleach water and a clean scrub brush. After that boil it. After boiling allow it to air dry. Finally, bake it at 200 for 15-20 minutes. After the mold has developed you may always have an issue
Certain woods are good for that after a while... and may just need replaced.

It just got extra water logged from the settings on the mister getting changed and I guess from me turning the mister off for a couple days to level everything out boom I had mold.

Since you didn't answer, I am assuming that the mold is white, which would be normal for wood that was once dry and then got soaked. It will go away on it's own it will not harm the frog.

Sounds like normal mold that you get once wood gets wets. Will go away. Might want to add Springtails and/or Isopods if you haven't already.

They are small micro-organisms that live in the tank. They are "janitors" that eat fecal matter, fungi, etc.

Josh's frogs sells springtail cultures. I just kinda poured some in after a futile attempt to separate them from the charcoal. Although the charcoal hasn't been detrimental.

Charcoal is a part of ABG mix which many use for their substrate, so a few dropped pieces of charcoal is definitely not an issue. Easiest way in my humble opinion is to flood the culture cup (NO tap water) as the Springs float, then tilt cup right up against inside glass which prevents charcoal from spilling out. Make sure to leave a little water in cup with the culture if you are keeping it going.

Yep! Bill is right. White and green mold are fine. Black is bad. Get some springtails and Isopods from a safe breeder . They'll nimble on it .

Well they tend to go underground so there are a lot more than you see. They breed in the tank too. I would say...once every six months?
