    Question Grout?

    I want t oUse some sort of grout or mortar/cement mix on the background of a future paludarium. Do any of you know the best/most effective one out there?

    Non Sanded or Sanded grout work. You can either add Acrylic paint to the grout mixture to color the background or just paint the back ground with acrylic paint after the grout has cured. You will also want to cover the grout with a product like Drylok to protect it against the high humidty Vivariums tend to have.

    I forgot, I also mixed a glue-sealant into the mixture. Really helped keep it on too.

    Bill recommended this to me, but I've used drylok cement mixed with brown acrylic for my aquatic section and it works very well and looks super natural.

    Default Grout?

    I do prefer using tinted drylok paint. Non sanded grout is the way to go if doing a grout background. Just mix it thin, allow each layer to dry fully before applying the next layer to avoid cracking. It it a tedious process that requires a lot of patience.
