hi, I need help making a half land half water tank for my fire bellied toad. I tried Plexiglas and i guess I measured the tank wrong and everything was just ruined.Do you know how much inches i have to cut the Plexiglas to be able to do the 50/50 tank for a 10 gallon and what glue is good to not have the water seep through? I don't like using gravel because I feel like its not safe for the toads. So any other safer ways to make a 50/50 tank would be fine anyways thanks...
Just measure the tank, cut it that big. I think silicone would be the best thing to use to seal it. I have never done it this way though. I just make the land areas out of rocks too big for them to eat.
I don't put a divider between the water and the land. I just pile up the gravel to get it above the waterline were I want land then cover with substrate. That allows the roots of plants to get down to water and I don't have to fuss with watering them.
I'd think this would give more places for the nitro-bacter and such to thrive and help keep the ammonia level down.
I went a very simple way
20 gallon aquarium
1 corner filter for 30 gallons
1 floating land ornament
5 anubia afzeli
no gravel and 5 inches deep of water expanding the entire tank
1 5,100k fish UVB bulb 10W
1 25W incandescent bulb for heat
the tank holds 4 frogs very well and they like it because they can swim and hide in the plants
Doesnt sound too shabby. Sorry the previous didnt go so well. Any pics for share?
