Default Mesh lid gap from power cable fix. Cheap DIY

I was finding crickets all over my room because of the gap created by a power cable from my filter in my frog tank. I have 2 20 gallon longs, and a 10 gallon, all with the same problem. I managed to fix the problem on every tank for under $5 total. First thing you need is self adhesive draft tape. Its a foamy insulation you can use in doors to stop drafts.

I found this size worked great.

Next all you need to do is lay your pieces out, mark your cuts, cut them to size, and stick them to the plastic rim. After that my mesh lid fit nicely, it no longer made loud banging noises when placed back on the aquarium scaring my pets, and there was no longer gaps for escapees!

I hope this simple fix helps others.
