I am building a 50 gal breeder for fbt. 2/3 land,1/3 water with a water feature, water fall run by a internal canister filter from I had from aquarium laying around. Egg create False bottom 4" from glass and 3" of water. 1/2" sand drainage layer under coco fiber.
Okay here's the trouble. I filled and changed the water(washing sand silt out) Now my water has turned brown. Looks like Tea. Im guessing this would be from the coco fiber. If it is like an aquarium with driftwood bleeding tannis, it wont harm the fish at all.Not sure about the fbt's and how sensitive they would be.Trying to post pics but my phone is being screwy.
Any Advice would be welcome
Yes, most likely just tanins from the coco fiber. Natural and wont harm the FBTs, should settle and small partial water changes will help to clear it up a bit.
I agree with Paul - Sounds like it is tannins from the coco fiber.

Finally able to transfer the pics from my phone. Here is what I have going on. Last pic shows the Tea color in the water
Definitely just the tanins and perfect normal/harmless. I actually prefer this look
Me too. I much prefer black water. Charcoal in your canister will remove it, if you so choose.

I used to like clear water in my tanks...now the tea colored water just looks "natural" to me and how it's supposed to be. You get used to it.
