Thread: Hello and thank you.

    Default Hello and thank you.

I've found myself on the forum several times in the past, though random questions thrown at google. Today when I noticed that I had found answers from this forum yet again, I was like, why am I not a member?

You guys have been super helpful to me already, and I'm excited to be able to speak directly to other frog lovers. I don't actually know any other frog owners irl, and my local pet store isn't very knowledgeable with amphibians. I find myself in need of answers quite often...

I currently have a single Gray Tree Frog, named Gunter. My girlfriend works in the produce department of a grocery store, and one day a frog turned up on an Avocado. I have no idea how far Gunter rode this Avocado, but we instantly fell in love with the little gray. At the time I knew nothing about tree frogs, I had no idea where she came from, and was afraid to release her so... new Tree Toad Friend!

Gunter has improved our lives so much since she came to us, I truly feel like she is a blessing. Today we upgraded Gutner's terrarium, went from a small critter tote thing, to a much taller glass tank. Loads more climbing and jumping room, and instantly we saw an increase in her activity. Watching her explore is amazing, and I cant wait to see how more vertical room effects hunting.

Hello and welcome to the FF! I have a soft spot for grey tree frogs, they are just sweet fun little guys! My grey, Paddy, was my first frog and I think greys will always top my list as a favorite. Here is a good care sheet - Frog Forum - Gray Tree Frog Care and Breeding - which you may have already read in your googling. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, we're happy to help!
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"

0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
    0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"

When we found her she was still very young, I read about male color patterns, and that males call. Gunter did not have these colors on her neck, and she was silent, so we assumed her a female. Recently she's started peeping, it's seldom but some mornings she will peep 1 to 2 times, and it's insanely adorable.

There are pictures of her on my profile, if anyone more versed in Gary's than myself could officially sex her, that would be cool.

I did find that care sheet pretty quickly, very helpful. And if I have any additional questions later I'll be sure to hit you guys up. Thanks again!

If there is any noise, you likely have a male. In the past 4 years, I have heard a peep out of my big female maybe 3 times total, and only when she's startled. It's very soft and nothing like the noise a male makes. When the males first start calling, it takes them a bit to get the hang of it and sound like recordings that you hear. It took about a month before I was absolutely sure my Atlas was a male...then I also have a male who has never made a sound.

Just looked at your pics, definitely looks male to me in the one shot with a puffed up throat.
