I just got my pixie frog yesterday after about a month of preparation and research. I have coco husk substrate,
a half log hide, two water dishes one under the heat lamp and one not so it can choose warm or cool water.
The thing is, most of the time my frog stays pressed against the glass looking out. He moves only occasionally, and even then he continues staring out.
and continues just staring out the terrarium. I'm worried about him. He only moves during feeding and when I mist the terrarium, and even then only a few steps. Is he ill? Is he just adjusting? Or is this behavior normal?
I'd imagine the little guy is fine. They don't hop laps around their enclosures or do backflips or anything. Sometimes they don't move all day. I wouldn't worry much if it's eating and stuff. Give 'em a while to settle in and get a routine down and see how it goes.
Hi, I don't own a bullfrog so health wise I couldn't help you but when you say he stares out of the terrarium do you have any background or anything on the tank? Sometimes it helps if you cover 3 sides so he cant see so much outside of the enclosure. You could even just put some paper or something on the back and sides till you get something better. And I agree with Yuromastic that he's probably just adjusting, give him a couple days and imagine he will come around.
