    Default Emergency heating options

Are there any non-electrical options for heating besides hand warmers? Battery-operated heat? There was a tornado and the power was out all yesterday, but luckily I have a gas heater. However, I'm not going to stay in this house forever, so I was wondering. (Apologies to you people who live in cold climates and probably know all this stuff already.)

I would get an efficient wood stove. you can get free ones online sometimes. if it has a good seal when you close the door youll get a lot of heat. depends on your situation but if you can get dry firewood your set

Generators. We have two generators to run our electric in case of long term outages. A few weeks ago our furnace broke when it was 10°F out. Space heaters weren't keeping up. I insulated the tanks worth Styrofoam and ran the che's to keep the temps up. If it stayed out any longer I would have taken them to a friend's house in a smaller tank.

oh yea. a generator will be best your bet. it will cost abit to run. even a couple days using a good one with only a few things drawing power. when your fuel is running out your lights will strobe. im no electrician but id try to turn it off and refuel before it does that cause it might not be good for heat pads and what not.
