I've decided to make a thread that's all about Gandalf, my Hyla versicolor AKA American Gray Tree Frog! From past, to present and future!
August 12th 2014: Rescued Gandalf, who was hopping about mid-day despite being nocturnal because workers were cutting down all the trees by my yard (one which was his home!). Fed him blue bottle fly larvae. My very first pet frog.

Very small and still green. I was unaware of the species until later that night I realized he was climbing up the side of the tank. Then I realized he was a tree frog. I researched American Tree Frogs and figured out he was an American Gray. I could tell because of the squared snout. And I realized they start off green but turn gray as they age. Named him Gandalf, after Gandalf the Gray in The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring.
August 13th 2014: I found FrogForum.net and found out a lot about this species. I was informed that they should be quarantined for a month or longer. I made him a new home.
August 14th: Gandalf started turning gray. Joined FrogForum.net.

August 28th: Introduced Gandalf to other feedings. Small wild caught insects. Gandalf eats a fly from my fingers.
September 1st: First noticed yellow on Gandalf's legs.

September 25th: Growing up! Was told Gandalf is most likely female as she does not have a very speckled chin. Not sure if I should wait til adulthood to determine the sex.

October 1st: Made a collage showing Gandalf's color changes, based on what she's on, the temerpature and humidity.

November 10th: Gandalf gets a new water bowl, sent to me by a friend.

December 7th: Gandalf gets to go in the "play house". Basically a huge cage with all stuff from outside in it, to reenact the wild. Not a permanent home for anyone. It's just a play house.

To be continued...
December 23rd: Gandalf gets a new home!
Gandalf was measured... 1 1/2".
