    Default Help! Red eyed tree frog isn't doing well.

    1----what 'kind' of frog is it ( what species)
    Red eyed tree frog
    2----please include a photo of the frog
    I'll attach one
    3----Please include a photo of the frog's current enclosure
    I have to take some, I'll post them when I can
    4----size of enclosure ( W" x D" x H" )
    40 breeder
    5----# on inhabitants - ( if there is another frog --- is there a size difference ? )
    One other red eye, same size
    6----has or was the frog kept with a different species or with any other tank mate
    It was with other frogs when I bought it in September
    7----is there a new tank mate----was the new tank mate quarantined
    This is the new tank mate to my other red eye
    8----what is the typical humidity level
    80%
    9----what temperature is maintained
    75F.
    10---what is, specifically, being used to maintain the temperature of the enclosure
    75 watt heat lamp x 2, one red one night time purple/blue
    11---describe the enclosure lighting ( very specifically)
    I have an led light on their tank. Current satellite one for freshwater aquariums
    12---describe enclosure maintenance ( water changes, cleaning etc)
    I change the water bowl every night, spot clean daily, clean out the majority of the substrate every week or so
    13---what kind of water is used

    Distilled, I also have a repti fogger with distilled water on the enclosure
    -----for the frog's soaking dish

    Yes, not sure what brand

    Lots of live plants, 4" shallow water dish,

    I use a small dust pan to scoop most of the peat moss out, usually I try to go around the live plants. Replace with fresh. I wipe down any dirty leaves and the sides of the tank with distilled water

    Yes, but it could be from the other frog

    Every 3 days I add fresh dusted crickets, there's always a few left in the enclosure

    Small crickets

    None
    21---what is the frog's main food source
    Crickets
    22---do feeders roam free in the enclosure or is the frog bowl fed
    Roam free
    23---vitamins - what brand and how often
    Repashay calcium plus (sp?)

    Same as vitamins, every time I feed
    25---was the frog without calcium for any period of time
    No calcium for the first 2 weeks or so I had the frog
    26---approximate age of the frog
    Not sure
    27---how long have you owned the frog
    3 1/2 months

    I got him from a reptile show.
    29---is the frog wild caught or captive bred
    I was told he was captive bred
    30---how often the frog is handled -- are gloves used ( what kind of gloves)
    Two or 3 times a week, only for a second to check on him and I always wash & rinse my hands well before hand
    31---is the enclosure kept in a high or low traffic area
    Moderate. High traffic room, but the cage is tucked in a corner far from where we are walking by
    30---has or was the frog properly quarantined (yes or no)

    I suggest you start with separating these two, putting that one in a separate tank with wet papertowels and easy to desinfect decor. This way you will be able to monitor pooping/eating.
    The other thing - have you done fecal testing when you got them? If not this has to be done asap!

    In the hospital tank that lija recommends, I would cover art least 3 sides of the enclosure, stop handling him. Red eyes are picky and stress from stuff like handling them could cause them not to eat.
