hi, I use to have a bearded dragon in a 55 gallon aquarium befor he passed away and was wondering if it would be safe to start a saltwater aquarium out of it after a good cleaning and if so what should I use to clean it?
another thing, would an ocellaris clownfish get along with a sally lightfoot crab?
The two animals should get along.
When I worked in the aquarium trade, we cleaned tanks with salt in between occupants. Rinse thoroughly.
you mean like epson salt or table
Aquarium salt.
oh.
another thing I heard that reptiles and amphibians give off this chemical that once it's in the aquarium it can't be removed and it kills the fish. is that true. also is dawn dish deturgent safe if you wash it out thouroghly (spell check)
I would agree with Kurt and stick with the sea salt. I kept a salt water tank for over 10 years and even had multiples at times. Dish detergents had hard to get out completely and are not really necessary. Use a razor blade on the glass to get off any build up and wash it out. Remember it takes awhile to cycle the new salt water tank so I wouldn't go out and buy your clown until your tank is established.
thanks, about the sea salt. does it have to be pet store sea salt or could I use this MORTON sea salt. it is sea salt unless the huge salt making chain lies. Da da da daaaa! just kiding. please answer soon.
I think it will be fine. No, herps do not release a chemical that kills fish. Who told this?
