    Default Dubias as staple food?

So I have two pacman frogs and am planning on getting another one this reptile show coming up and was wondering if starting a dubia colony would be a good idea that way I don't have to buy a lot of nightcrawlers. Can Dubai roaches be a good staple food?

    Default Dubias as staple food?

Dubia roaches are an "ok" staple food. Nightcrawlers really would be best and even an undusted worm is better than any dusted roach.

Use both, bigger variety is always better and roaches are fun to keep

It is best to feed dubia roaches after they have "molted". At that time they are still "soft" and easier for Horned Fogs to digest.

If you start a dubia colony just be prepared to cull a lot of them with only two frogs to feed. I tried that with only one frog to eat them, and they bred WAY quicker than I could feed them to the frog. I'm thinking of starting another colony now since I've got two frogs and have been getting into tarantulas so I'd actually be using more roaches.
You could probably grab all the mature males and females and separate them if you didn't want them to breed, but that's a lot of trouble.

Can also keep them a bit cooler than their prime breeding temps. That will slow down the colony reproduction. Just make sure it does not get too cold for their survival .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
