All,
What topics would you like to see an article done up for the Vivarium construction sticky post? Post the topic you would like to see here and we will look into adding them to the main thread.
Thank you,
Paul

How about a discussion (with pics) of advantages/disadvantages of a false bottom versus a drainage layer and also include a how to for both ?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
I would like to see a topic about different types of backgrounds. How they are made, which are easier to make, which are better for supporting plants, etc. and of course pictures
Litoria caerulea 1.1.0 (White's Tree Frog)
Lampropeltis triangulum hondurensis 0.1.0 (Anerythristic Honduran Milk Snake) Tliltocatl albopilosus 0.0.2 (Curly Hair Tarantula)
Aphonopelma hentzi 0.0.1 (Texas Brown Tarantula)
Avicularia avicularia 0.0.2 (Pinktoe Tarantula)
Brachypelma smithi ex. annitha 0.0.1 (Mexican Giant Red Knee Tarantula) Monocentropus balfouri 0.0.2 (Socotra Island Blue Baboon Tarantula)
Harpactira pulchripes 0.0.1 (Golden Blue Leg Baboon Tarantula)
It would be cool to show all of the different ways to install/access/hide plumbing for water features.
Also, maybe pics, descriptions, and a quick "how to" example of different backgrounds.
Perhaps benefits of internal air circulation?

Yes definitely something about backgrounds. Which are easiest, cost wise, hardest, most beneficial etc.

Maybe one on plant placement?
all excellent ideas people. i will start getting on some right away. plant placement is going to be a bit difficult, due to every tank being so different and individual, but i will see what i can come up with. water features is another problematic topic, since each build is so different, but i can give it a shot.
backgrounds have been covered pretty extensively. the only ones i haven't written anything up on are clay (because it's such a pita) and concrete, which i will not be doing. steps in that need to be followed EXACTLY, otherwise animal death could be the result. so, i won't write it up because i do not want to be responsible for someone not following what i wrote and their frog meeting an early demise

Idea from another thread... Drilling the tank. I've been terrified to attempt this and siphon all my water out. It's a huge pain.

IRT plant placement; would be nice to also discuss it from the decoration viewpoint. Have seen spectacular vivariums in both lush and sparse versions that are well balanced and harmonious . At the same time seen some that even though plants are healthy; decor don't seem to balance out right .

How about the next Viv I build, which should be a palu for leucs, I do a detailed, step by step tutorial, including the design process? Will that work for everybody? Lol

All I saw was mention that you need to use a diamond tip to drill it. Could he have included it in a video I can't watch at work? LOL

If you go to YouTube and search for drilling aquariums will find several tutorials in there. Basic steps are to lay enclosure so glass being drilled is on top. Create a little dam with plumbers putty and fill with water to keep drill bit and glass cool. Slowly drill with glass drill bit holding drill weight off glass and keeping perpendicular to surface; specially as drill finishes cut through glass. You are done; chill and pat yourself on the back !
