Hi! This guy was found in Palm Bay florida. Any ideas on what he is?and is there anyway to be sure he isn't an invasive cuban treefrog at this stage?
He's pretty small so I can't tell what he is, you may want to look up what Cuban tree frog froglets look like
0.1.0 Psuedacris regilla
0.1.0 Pseudacris regilla (r.i.p. Green Beauty)
0.0.1 Bufo boreas boreas? (r.i.p. )
0.0.4 Dendrobates tinctorius 'Powder Blue'
Thanks.
There are a couple of tips for juvenile cubans here: Cuban Treefrog
Reddish eyes and visible blue bones on the underside of their legs. Pictures in the link.
I'm not an expert or anything, but I don't think it's a cuban. Here's my cuban at the same stage:
And as a slightly bigger froglet:
Yours looks way stockier than the OP's when fresh out of the water. Did you happen to get a picture of the underside of your Cuban when it was young? I'd be interested in seeing more pictures of the under legs of a Cuban than I've been able to find online.
Thanks for sharing your first-hand experience by the way.
Well darn, I can't find any other pictures of him, I must have deleted them. It didn't turn out well, I couldn't ever get him to eat. So probably why I deleted the pictures. Here's the thread I made, though. http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...tml#post138371
One underbelly picture but it is bad quality. His bones were definitely blue though, you could see that clearly. The frog in Sherlock's post doesn't have blue bones, you'd be able to see them in the pictures where he is facing the camera.
Thank you! I'm so glad they're native froglets I really appreciate the help.
Hello, did you ever get an ID on this froglet? I have the same ones emerging now and I know they're not Cubans. I tried attaching a photo but it's not accepted. The tadpoles from this lot look like southern chorus tree frogs. I'm just curious to know if you ever made a positive id.
