    Default Another Newbie!

    Hey all, from Virginia here!

I just purchased 3 White's tree frogs today. My husband and I have always wanted some! I have them in a 10 gallon tank for now (leftover from some hermit crabs I had, so was able to re-use alot of supplies). I plan to get them at least a 20 in the near future, just trying to decide what tank I actually want to get.

I have Sugar gliders as well, so always have the RepCal suppliments on hand. I'm looking forward to diving in to keeping these guys! They are so cool already.

    Here's their tank:

    3rd frog: TBA
It hasn't come out from behind the plant in their tank yet.

#1 has already decided he was hungry and ate a few crickets. #2 has been determined to find an escape route. #3 just wants to hide. hehe

Yay, more White's owners. (You might need a little more than a 20 for three of those guys, fair warning. They can get big) And welcome to the forum.

I can definitely do a bit bigger if needed. Lots of conflicting info out there that says you can house 3 in a 20. But I'm happy to go bigger.

I'd love to get one of those Exo Terra tanks that are tall with the door that opens out. What size would you guys recommend for 3 frogs? They are all juvies right now, the largest about 2" from nose to hiney.

18x18x24 would work but might be a squeeze. 24x18x24 or a 18x18x36 with lots of climbing spots would be about perfect I think. A 36x18x36 wouldn't be too big for three.

An 18x18x24 was what I was looking at getting. I will try to find an 18x18x36 or the 24x18x24 if I can then. Thanks! Glad to know I was at least on track! Now just to find one on sale. A friend of mine is selling an 18x18x24, but lives about 4 1/2 hours away, so I don't think I'll be able to get it from her.

Hello and welcome to the forum! I think the minimum for 3 should be 30 gallons, but I would personally go 40 or even 50 gallons if I could, afford it

Thanks! I'm hoping to get the biggest I can for my dollar...but also without breaking the bank haha.

How long do you think I'd have before HAVING to upgrade them? To give us an idea of how long we have to shop around?

I would say until the quarantine time is up and they are nice and healthy/free of disease. When they get about 3 inches long from snout to vent is when I would do a big upgrade since when they are younger they can have a harder time hunting. Have you had a fecal done on them yet? If you don't know how to set up a quarantine tank then I can help you with that

They're our first frogs, so I put them straight into their enclosure. Whoops. But no, I haven't had a fecal done on them yet. I just got them home today. I need to see if my exotic vet will see frogs, or if I can just bring in a stool sample for a float. I have a scale that I can keep weights on them, no problems there. But, all the stuff in their current tank can be replaced easily enough. I have a substrate of Eco-earth capped with Spagnum moss. The bowls, Cork Log and plastic plant can all be scrubbed and bleached if needed.

All 3 have eaten some crickets tonight, surprisingly.

I do have a 5 gallon tank that has a UTH on it (prior hermit crabs in it, like with the current tank), that I can use as an ISO/Hospital tank if needed down the road.

A friend of mine works at a veterinary office that has 2 vets that see frogs. So, these guys will be going in very soon to get a fecal and wellness check.

Here's two of them this evening. Sorry for the haziness...The tank is all scratched up and stained from the crabs. lol

I think I may start taking them out for feedings, and put in a critter keeper so I can determine who's getting what. I haven't seen #3 since yesterday evening. Think he's buried under the plant
