The brown color is nothing to worry about though, right? I was worried it was stress initially ^-^

    Default Re: Another Newbie!

It could be stressed, temperature, or just the natural color of the frog

Thanks! ! How much should these guys be weighing at this point? I'm going to start taking weights on them, just to keep track

Not sure about weight, you could always look up the average weight for their size. It might just be me but they look a little thin for their size.

I was thinking they looked thin. But didn't want to start fattening them up too quick. Think i should feed them twice a day for awhile?

  10. #29

    Default Re: Another Newbie!

I would still feed them once a day Parasites might also be contributing to them looking thin.

Congrats on new frogs Jessica! For 3 White's adults would recommend a 24Lx18Wx36 tall enclosure. If you can afford it, do get the 36 in. wide ExoTerra with same other dimensions. Issue with a small enclosure is how to provide a proper basking spot without over heating that whole thing. Also when housing tree frogs; always max out the height. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thanks! I won't be able to do the 36 wide, simply due to space issues.... But, I am searching for the biggest tank I can find that we can fit where we have them!

Currently, there is an Under Tank heater on half of the tank, (on a thermostat) so the froggies have their choice where to go. But, I hope to get them in a bigger tank really soon... and I need to figure out a way to heat it safely without being something my cats can knock off and cause a fire lol.

Have a tank on the way for them!
Petco has a 20% off sale going on right now, and I had 10 dollars in rewards available....In addition to the tank being on sale already from 209 dollars, I am getting it for 150 after shipping!

It's not biggest I would have liked to get, but it's a 24Lx18Wx24T. The biggest we can buy at this time. But, will be a huge upgrade from the 10 gal they are in currently.

New tank has been here for awhile now, but haven't set it up yet due to the fact that we are moving in just a few weeks! Will set it up when we get to our new house.
Another update is that one of the lil froggies passed away. Not sure what happened, as the other two are doing well. He hid alot, then spent 3 days straight in the water bowl (only him) and I found him passed away in the bowl the other day.

Although very difficult to do on a small enclosure; White's need a basking spot that reached 85F. Recommend conduct fecals on remaining 2 frogs to ensure there are no intestinal parasites on them.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Not sure I can set up a heat lamp of any sort with the way our cats are. Anything else i could use interim?Don't want to come home to a fire. Will definitely be able to on their new tank. They will be getting fecals as soon as i can get them to the vet. Will be calling to see if I can get them in on Saturday
