Default Help the New guy find the best filter!

Alright, I'm brand new to frogs. I am building my set-up right now, and currently have a mostly water set-up with some rock islands for land, and big gravel on the bottom of the water section. I will end up planting some live plants and things like that, but I'm having a hard time picking a filter. It seems like there are so many options. What is the best/cheapest way to get good filtration? (I have been looking at the Tetra whipser, and some other reptile filters) Thanks!

Not filter related, but make sure you build an area big enough to set a bowl for feeding crickets. I read about a lot of people frustrated because the crickets just jump into the water and die before the fire bellies get them.

Interesting, I hadn't seen that come up in any of my research. Thanks! what type of bowl would you recommend? How big?

I have been using a tetra 10i whisper filter for my fire bellies and it works great.

I am using the Exo terra medium turtle cliff and the filter that came with it. Its not too loud and it gives a rock area for them to climb out of the water and bask. Plus its a waterfall and helps with humidity. Pics in my profile.

Don't rule out some of the nano submersible filters, like the fluval nano. They may be small, but their filtration is excellent. Some even come with spray bars to disperse water flow.

I can't help with the filter question, I don't use one, but in a set up like this, I find dubia roaches to make the best feeders. They don't jump so you just put them on a rock island and they stay on that rock until the toads eat them.
