    Default Cloudy Eye

One of my frog's eyes has gone cloudy and gray. Not sure why, but it's only one, and it's been like that for a couple of weeks. Diagnosis?

Unshed skin, a fungal infection or an eye injury perhaps? Sorry haven't encountered this with my FBTs yet. Hopefully it gets better

That looks like an infected eye injury. Myself would get both Melafix and Pimafix at local pet store and prepare solution according to label directions. If enclosure has a water dish; replenish it with solution and check frog is soaking in it. If you have a larger water area in tank; do a large (at least 25%) water change and treat the actual water volume with both medications at the same time (do not overdose). Repeat treatment daily for one week and let us know how it goes. You can store premixed solution in a dark place for a couple days.

If available can take frog to veterinary; they can examine frog in situ and administer stronger antibiotics if needed. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thank you! I just ordered both on Amazon, so they will arrive Saturday. If it doesn't work by next week, should I take the frog to a vet?

Sorry; but that is a question you will have to answer yourself. Please be aware that if infection is in advanced stage; the frog might loose or have lost it's sight in that eye already. If going with vet route; these locators might help: Arav and Herp Vet Connection .

Thanks for the links! I'll start looking just in case Olive needs professional care. I won't spare any expense for my frogs.

One week later. Olive's eye is still pretty cloudy, but there seems to be a little improvement. I decided to continue Pimafix/Melafix treatment for one more week before I take her to a doctor. But just in case, I'm going to start locating amphibian vets in my area.

As it looks now if melafix does not start to show improvement in a day or so you will need a vet. Ask for Gentimicin. That should clear the eye up.
