    Default Collected moss

I collected some moss off a rock today in the woods. I soaked it for a little bit, then dried it out. I'm going to freeze it for a couple days.

Should this be enough to kill any insects (spiders, millipedes, centipedes etc) or any harmful critters in the moss?

Welcome to the forum The moss should be safe after the freezing procedures and soaking. The moss may die off for a few months and may need to be conditioned. After collecting moss out in the woods, ive found that buying tropical moss is much better. Im pretty sure Josh's frogs sells a gallon of tropical moss for $5-$10. Don't worry about the moss if it dies off.

Freezing moss does not ensure anything living in it will be destroyed. Keep in mind that it is a native moss that goes dormant in winter and rejuvenates in the spring. So will any creepy crawlies and their eggs/larvae/what have you.
