Default Please help major substrate issues in spadefoot tanks!

Okay so about 2 or so weeks ago I threw out and changed all my spadefoot toads' tank's soil.; due to little white soil mitey/larvae / fungasgnat thingies. (I KNOW EVERYONE ALWAYS CLAIMS that they are beneficial and harmless but I totally feel that my toads always end up seeming irritated and somewhat bothered by them - like itchy and awake more) ANYWAY it was straight coco soil (usually I mix with reptasand &or river bottom sand) So when I replaced & cleaned everything (replaced with coco/sand mix bottom layer of carbon). Not but maybe a few days layer I swear I'm starting to see something in the substrate again..but this time whatever they are they are DEFINITELY NOT the usual gnatty/soil mitey moving things. I don't know wtf they are but I am not tripping ,they are some kind of live organism, arthropodic mite things in there. Some of them seem to be a darker color maybe and a lot of it is like whitish kinda clustering "stuff" I dont KNOW it's hard to describe. It doesn't really seem like it's on the toads like stuck, but on their skin a little like when they first come up from underground.Idk . I think I should as soon as I can, take them out and "dry ice bomb" their tanks.
    But first of two things
    1) can someone please give me their opinion or possibilities of WTF these could be or effects /harm could be caused?

    2) DETAILED INSTUCTIONS on dry icing the tanks? Like how much to use, how long, does it thoroughly penetrate all of the substrate, etc?

PLEASE SOME INSIGHT, THE SOONER THE BETTER, if I could afford New dirt I'd do that but can't. And want to stress toads out as LEAST as possible.
All response s will be utterly and gratefully appreciated.

    THANKS.
IF FURTHER INFO IS NEEDED IN ORDER FOR ONES INPUT LMK .

    Hi,
If you want to get rid of the nasties:

Use caution , of course. If you are a child or young adult ? please get some help/ supervision

I think you should remove the frogs and disinfect the tank.
A 1:10 house hold/laundry bleach solution will kill them. ( one part bleach /10 parts tap water)
I see you life in Arizona, so this can be done outside.
Fill the the tank with the bleach solution and let it sit for a while ( all the way to the rim)
    Rinse, really RINSE.
Empty the tank refill with clean tap water (all the way again to the rim again)----and dump in a ton of de-chlorinate to neutralize the bleach
Let it sit for a long time
    Repeat the rinse and de-chlor.

If you have been replacing new substrate from the same bag ----toss it and buy new cocoa fiber.
This could be the source? I suggest you toss it !
OR ---Return it tell them it has bugs !!!! Make the store exchange it .

I you have any wood in the tank...boil or bake it before you put it back in

If there are any plants in there ----dip them in the 1:10 and rinse ( roots and all)

    What a pain

This is a very confusing ?
I would have had no idea what W. T. F meant!
However I did understand it was obviously a typo. That was no big deal to me.
I was happy to help, anyway

I have given you some insight. How about "thanks, Lynn "

To determine if the bugs are harmful, you will have to post a photo of the bugs and they will have to be identified.

It's very simple - they are reproducing from/in something CURRENTLY in the enclosure

If you don't want the bugs .........follow the above directions --- to get rid of them completely !

I would not use dry ice......It would kill all live plants.......it may cost you more than new substrate?
If you have live plants they need to be bleached dipped as describe as they could have un-seen insect or insect larvae on them.

Perhaps someone has a better idea
