Default Lighting for plants. Exo-Terra hood?

I'm starting to think that getting an Exo-Terra 18-18-24 along with the hood fixture may have been a mistake. I've read that plants don't grow very well with the UVB fluorescent bulbs that fit this hood. And I'm going to need healthy plants, since the WTF is hopefully going to grow up to be a big plant-crushing frog.

So, is that true and if it is, does anybody know of (preferrably) LED lights that might fit this particular hood and give off sufficient brightness? Or maybe I'm going to have to write it off and buy a better hood. *Groan* I've nearly reached the end of my frog-budget on this project.

I saw the other thread where you recommended that too. It looks perfect. Sadly it's out of stock though.

People have found that same light on eBay I believe. There's another company that sells them here. I would give that a search.

NEHERPS has Jungle Dawn bulbs that fit in those ExoTerra hoods. a 9 watt fits in the short side and you can put a 9, 11 or 13 watt in the longer side. I got those.

You can find Beamworks LED lights on Amazon as well. Just search Amazon for Beamworks and compare the item you find on amazon to the item you want from their website.

The JungleDawn or Joshs Gro LED are both good as well, I just hate how big and ugly the exo hoods are so I opt to not use them lol

Lol, I quickly realized that $80+ for a hood and too led lights are super expensive, and hope to order a beamswork from amazon within the next month for the front portion of the tank. I've been meaning to ask, does anyone know if the moonlight is too bright/strong for a nocturnal tree frog?

It's true, I was perfectly happy with my CFL's until I got my first beamswork.
