We are super new to frogs. We have 6 grey tree frogs that we hatched from Eggs back in June. 4 now eat crickets and they last 2 that took longer to grow legs are still eating the wingless fruit flies. we are so proud!
They are currently in a 30L (36 Wide x 16 Tall X 12 Deep).I want them to have more vertical space. I have an extra 37Gal. 30 x 22 x 12
Will any of these options work?
A) convert the 30g tank they are in to vertical. 36 x 16 x 12
B) convert 37Gal tank vertical. 22 x 30 x 12
C) combining them to a new size of 22 wide x 36 tall and 16 inches deep. (would equal 54.9 Gallon)
I have read that you "can" house 4 tree frogs in a 18x18x24. I'm sure you can what number is actually good for happy frogs?
This is my first post and I will be very appreciative of any imput anyone would like to give me. I have purchased a lot of stuff including a brick of exo-terra plantation soil( coconut husk fibre) 8 dry quarts of green moss, a carpet that looks like they would get tangled and die, etc.etc. but I need to get the shell size decided before I start asking about which branches or plants live of fake and fake bottom or not. ANY input to get us started would be great. Thanks! Jenna
the larger the better. i have 2 in a 18x18x24 tall exo-terra, and when they reach full size, i can imagine this will be ok, but i only have 2. My own Tank is bare on the bottom except for 3 pothos plants in their pots, and a big water bowl at the front. i have a large tree-like chunk of grapewood, and a fake vine on suction cups. also a fake ficus vine on suction cups. ( and 2- 24 inch bamboo. ) i keep it simple so it is easy to clean. it still looks nice and the frogs are happy. i don't like substrate b/c of the risk they will ingest any while hunting. That's just my method, i am sure the pros can chime in. Gray tree frogs are so cool.

ANY thoughts on size PLEASE chime in. You can never have too much input.
I would say that you would need at least a 24 in tall tank and it should be the equivalent of at least 40 gallons.

Grays have a similar housing to American green tree frogs so i would think 5-10 gallons per frog, A 40-60 gallon tank should be good
(You can kind of cheat 60 with 55 since 60 gallon tanks are harder to come by)

I would recommend a 24x18x24 exo terra or larger, or at least a 40 gallon converted vertical.
If you go with a 40B vertical, here's a cool thread from our moderator Paul on how to make one:

I have 4 frogs on a 35 g hex and feel that isn't quite enough space. Personally, I'd go to 55-60 gallons minimum of some kind of vertical tank.

For 4 tree frogs, I don't care what species, I would go 36x18x36. The more territory they have, the happier they will be.
