Default Hello Anyone into African clawed frogs?

I have two (had 4 but two developed bloat during a move ) they are very funny and have a ton of character. I keep mine in a bare tank since the few times I tried plants didn't work out so well. Getting them to eat is no problem since they shove anything into their mouths. I use earthworms and make sure not to over feed. They are easy to care for and most of their illnesses are treatable but sometimes they suffer genetic defects from inbreeding that can result in death. Any particular questions?

Here you go Yasmin: http://www.frogforum.net/care-sheet-...are-sheet.html. Don't overfeed, keep up with water changes (daily if no filter, weekly if cycled filter), and all should be fine !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

    Thank you for the replies!
Questions, let me think, I am wondering if you could guess at its age, from head to foot it is about 2 inches long. Also is it true they can eat pieces of raw beef? Are they allowed to eat dead raw fish? At the minute I feed it frozen blood worm and special pellet things but I would like to offer other things, preferably dead things as I'm not brave enough to give it live food at present!
It has started hiding a lot is this normal? Is it lonely as its alone?

Would not give raw meat to frog; it's not their natural diet. Raw fish rated for human consumption is OK; but only the whole fish matches natural diet. Can get small frozen feeder fish at pet shop or at some oriental food markets. Currently available small feeder fish contain a hazardous enzyme called Thiaminase which causes vitamin B1 deficiency. Because of that, recommend only feed one small (couple in.) frozen fish to your frog per week.

Frogs do not feel lonely. During breeding season they will look for a mate to breed; but not because of loneliness. Can you please describe tank (post pic too) to see if we can pinpoint why is frog hiding. Good luck !

The only feeder fish that contain thiaminase are goldfish and carp species so feeder guppies, minnows will be fine.

Hi the frog has picked up back to normal! There are some plants and a little pot for the frog if it wants to hide. Bare floor of tank. Water always clean!
