This may be more of an enclosure topic question, but since its a question based more on personal preference and maybe fb needs I thought I'd post here.
I have a 36" long and 18" deep terrarium, housing 7 fire belly. 15" long is a water section that is cut off by plexi glass and 100% pure silicone, They love the water section but I seen one in a pet store that had the water section going length wise. I wondered if people here thought that would be better or really just the same.
Also since I can't get access to Dubai to change it up from the regular cricket staple I have been giving them trout worms. Small ones from Canadian Tire's sports section. They go crazy for them and grab hold of them and wrestle around with them. One time two fire bellies grabbed hold of either side and wrestled and flipped over squabbling over it. I'm hoping the fb is a good addition to their diet.
Designing the water section to be lengthwise versus cross sectioned is pretty much just a matter of aesthetics. It wouldn't be detrimental at all to divide the tank that way. Of course, going lengthwise had advantages, like being able to warm the plexi and curve it to give a more natural look to the enclosure.
