I am using a 10 gallon tank for my two American toads ive been keeping it outside since they were yearlings but its getting cold and I found an old natural daylight 15 watt bulb that fits perfect on top and I was wondering if it would be okay for my toads and their moss...they have plents of shade places in the tank and I was wondering if I could use this bulb until it goes out and after that what kind of bulb could I buy to replace it...the bulb has to have two prongs on each side and be 18 inches long...the lamp says 120 vac, 60hzz, 17w and its UL.....
It should be fine. The main spec that you should be concerned about would be color temp, which isn't normally listed on the bulb itself. But since moss isn't really picky about color temps, that bulb should be fine.
Just for reference, the specs you list: 120 vac- 120 volts/ alternating current (standard electricity in a house) 60hz- the ballast runs on a 60 hertz frequency , 17w- 17 watts (the amount of electrical "work" being done), UL- underwriters laboratories, the folks who certify electrical devices in the US.
Now everybody can say "look at the big brain on bill" lol

Since you mention "it's getting cold," imagine you are after a bulb that also produces heat. From description; that light fixture is using fluorescent tubes (two pronged 18 in.) and those produce little heat. If needing heat; you can get either use an incandescent bulb or a ceramic heat emitter .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Look at the big brain on bill.... ugh I feel dirty lol.
